LoS Episode 3: Resolve

"THE OPPONENT IS THE UNDEFEATED BEAST OF RAGE!" The announcer screams at the top of his lungs.

The crowd begins to cheer, almost like an uproar one would hear from a riot. It nearly deafened the Half-elf, half-demon boy. But as he gained his composure, it began moving. It didn't take long for it to reach him, but it seemed like almost forever as its first attack was a massive down ward strike. Rolling out of harms way, he took deep breaths as sand began to float into the air. This sand was harsh, and would get into any wounds, should he get any. Combating this thing without losing an arm might be impossible. He gritted his teeth and began to run at the beast's feet, as it recovered from it's first swing. But it moved fast, it's next swing was to the side, to knock Bal off his feet. Bal jumped as high as he could, practically landing on the sword for a moment, before losing his balance on the moving weapon, and falling into the sand. He rushed to his feet, anticipating another side sweep swing with the claymore, but instead a large fist hit his entire body, sending him flying into the Arenas side wall. He bounce off it, and did his best to regain his footing. This was going to be his toughest fight to date, and more than likely his last.

Clapping his hands together, Leer giggled to himself, watching the boy struggle to his feet. This fight was going to end quickly, and gory. He intended to see it through until the last drop of blood was spilled. This child was going to get what he deserved. Liza couldn't help but grit her own teeth at the battle. She had seen the Undefeated Beast of Rage slaughter people in mere seconds. Bal's quick thinking kept him alive longer than most, but how long would he last, to just end up another victim. Interfering was illegal and would eliminate him from the proving and sully her name as a Guard Lieutenant.

"Come on Bal! You can do it!" Liza screamed at the top of her lungs.

As he struggled to his feet from the massive hit, he held up his sword with both hands and held his ground against the next big swing, which he just managed to hold. The pressure and weight was intense, but he wasn't going down without a fight.

Pushing against the sword, Bal rolled to the side as the claymore soon struck the sand again. Now he ran for the beast's feet, striking at it a few times, cutting up the ankles as well. Swing left, swing right, downward slash. Nothing. Nothing happened, his blade was pushed back. The scales of the beast were that similar to a demon's..... impenetrable by a normal blade. Heavy breathing, he didn't see the next swing that knocked him off his feet as he hit the ground, now with a cut in his left leg, the sand immediately entering the wound. Grabbing his leg, he looked up to see the beast strike back down. Barely having time, he dodged the swing, and ducked the side swing that came afterwards. Lying on the ground, all he could do was wince at the pain that ached his whole body. Liza's voice was heard from the roaring crowd, as he turned to look at her. Big mistake. The beast used its spare hand again to smack him into another part of the circular wall. The crowd grew silent. Bal didn't move as he fell from the hole, onto the sand once more. This was it. He looked up to see the beast's evil grin. It knew it had won. Bal closed his eyes and sighed. The memories he had of training, of enjoying his life, all of them flashed in his head. This was... the... end.

"No. This isn't my end." Bal said, as he remembered something.

This was his day. His time to prove he was worthy to be like those he lived with. Spitting up blood, He picked himself and stared at the beast who had just now started its next swing. Grinning, Bal pointed his sword at the beast's face. Now what happened next, shocked everyone. Jumping to the side, Bal avoided the downward swing, and then forced himself on top of the claymore. He began to run up the large blade, his own sword cutting the air. Yelling with his lungs, he jumped up and made it very clear. Today was his day. Hovering in the air, both hands on his blade he point it toward the beast's forehead.

"Demon's Roar!" He shouted. This was not a skill he had invented, but inherited. His demon heart glowing a bright purple.

With the force of a rushing ox, and the speed of lightning, Bal shot through the beast, landing on his knees, blade dug into the sand as the beast came to a large crash behind him.

Bal began to think to himself, 'What the hell was that?'

As the beast came to a large crash, and it was clear Bal was still alive, the crowd was dead silent, and then in an instant, it began to cheer with its heart out. The main event had ended.

LoS Episode 2: Beast of Rage

Bal stood in front of a mirror as he took his time to gear up. The Black leather armor matched his hair as it was strapped to his chest and legs. He tried to test his pulse again, breathing deeply. There was still nothing there as he stared into the mirror. His own red eyes haunted him, as if thought about the rumors of demons. 'Could I really be one of them?' He asked himself, gripping the hard rock that was his heart. He only sighed as he faced his room, looking at what was left inside. His queen sized bed still stood there against the back wall. Its comfort was that of temporary when he tried to sleep. The mattress was rather old and the metal below was rusted by now. There rested a wooden training dummy that had withstood several thousand blows to the chest, as was evident with many scars in the wood. Speaking of chest, there was a large one that had several clothes in it, many from his childhood, and some of them were clothes for Beastials only. There was one pair of pants with a hole to where his butt was that made one school day the most embarrassing of his life. A small knock on the door was heard as he continued reminiscing.

"So many old memories." Bal whispered to himself.

"Careful you don't kill the beast with words." Liza said, announcing her presence to him.

"Gah! Damn it Liza." He said, holding his chest in shock.

She chuckled to herself and held up a necklace. "You've got a lot of new memories to make kiddo."

"You guys have been so... nice to me..... my whole time here. I....  thank you." He couldn't really make out the words clearly, as he looked down at his leather shoes.

Liza rolled her eyes as she put the necklace around his neck and clipped it together. "It's a nice fit."

Bal took the pendant of the necklace and stared at it. It had the same design as the necklace in the store, but the gem was orange. "What is it?"

"In the days of old, our ancestors fought monstrous creatures like that one. The pendant is supposed to indicate that you're one of the few to do so." She stated.

"But I'm not-" He tried to say.

"Ah-ah-ah. No take backs." She gave him a big smile.

As they made their final preparations, a carriage arrived for all of them to take a few hours later. The horses were a nice chestnut brown, and the carriage's colors were maroon and gold. The man who drove it was a nice old rabbit with grey fur. As they stepped inside, the trip became a long journey, going through several forests and towns before arriving to the capital Yeirn. Bal looked out the window on his left thinking about the many hours to come. The Proving happened once a year, for every boy to become a man in the Beastial nation. It was never held at a local town, always in Yeirn. These boys would become men by facing tough adventurers, beasts, and sometimes monsters from the depths of the underground. The ones who got those were always killed. That made fear settle into him for a short moment, until he thought about Liza's uncle Greg. He was a crazy old Bison that had to face a horde of rats. It was pretty funny watching him charge, run and scream like a lunatic until he finally gave up. Bal began chuckling to himself on the rest of the way home. All Liza could do was grin and stare at the boy. A future brighter than most.

The carriage soon stopped, and they had arrived at their destination. The Capital city Yeirn. It was massive. Lot's of tall buildings, along with resident homes that were a bit smaller. Business bustling everywhere, but what stood in front of them was the Arena. It's green marble foundation gleamed in the sunlight. All different types of Beastials were entering the Arena, and it was a long line to get in. Bison, Bears, Foxes, Deer, Rabbits, Goats, Cats and many more. There was already others proving themselves in the Arena as they stepped out of the carriage.

"Come on kid, we've got to get you to the locker room." Kail said, as he put his hand on Bal's back, leading him along.

Liza stood behind them, walking with her hands on her hips, close to her daggers. She wore a grey chain-mail outfit, along with light grey armor and the blue Cozack Guard sash. Kail wore the same thing, but over his chain-mail was a light-grey and red armor, showing him as the leader of the Cozack Guard. Bal's black leather mde him quite the opposite of his guardians, but he only chuckled at this. It seemed appropriate, since he really wasn't a Beastial. As they walked inside and went through many hallways, they finally reached the locker room. What passed them were yellow sash guards, carrying a Beastial fox kid, who was dead by the looks of it. Blood was everywhere on this kid. Bal tried his best not to pay attention, but he could hear the crowd from the gate that let one enter the arena. This might be tougher than even he expected.

"That's another one that bites the dust!" A man shouts, probably with amplified voice magic. It certainly didn't sound beastial, more like human.

What astounded Bal the most was the royal elf that stood there with his arms crossed, walking straight up to Bal-Savi and grabbing him by the arm.

"Come on kid, you don't need to be this close to the action." He said with a pompous accent.

"I'm not a kid! Today I become a man!" He yells as he rips his arm away from the royal.

The royal looks at him puzzled, and then sighs, holding his hand against his forehead.

"Ah... so you're the elf from Cozack. The one that thinks he's just like these beasts." He says.

"Beastials." Liza corrects him.

"Yes, yes, whatever. Boy, you don't belong here with them. You should come with me to Elven territory. You'll be treated so much nicer there." He says, attempting to reason with the boy.

"No. I've worked my whole life to get this far and I'm not just quitting because some pompous ass thinks I deserve better. You can take your royalty and die miserably." Bal says, as he walks away, overlooking the swords they have for him to use.

"Why you little-" He begins.

"I remember you. You're that new Elven Council member, Leer, right?" Kail says, with his hands on his hips, elbows out far.

"Yes, what of it?" Leer says.

"Why don't I find you a seat close to the action, I'm sure you'll enjoy the show my young friend will give us!" Kail says in a cheery voice as he grabs Leer and begins dragging him out of the locker room,

That just leaves Liza and Bal in the room. The silence is awkward, and she knows he's focused on just surviving, so she walks away, to join her father until he speaks up.

"Hey." He starts.

"Yeah?" She asks quietly.

"Don't worry about me. I'm born to do this." He says, with a fake grin on his face.

Liza only smiles back, and jogs away to catch up with her father.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! This is the last Proving for the day! Enjoy the show!" The announcer yells over the cheering crowd.

Leer chuckles to himself as he sits down next to Kail. His mint green robes darkened by the shade. He rubs his hands together, an evil grin on his face. "And what a show it will be."

"Opening the gates!" shouts a guard.

Bal-Savi steps out into the dim sunlight, longsword drawn and ready. His hair moving along with the wind, Bal's face is that of seriousness as he stares at the other end, which houses a gate as large as the buildings in Yeirn.

"Give a warm welcome to Bal-Savi! The Elven warior trained by the Cozack Guard! And would you look at that, it looks like a final salute!" The announcer yells.

Bal sees the saluting men, including Liza and Kail, and gives the same, a grin on his face. The confidence was setting in.

"The opponent today is..... wait... hold on a minute... we've got a change of plans folks! What an unlucky break! THE OPPONENT IS THE UNDEFEATED BEAST OF RAGE!" He screams.

Bal's face turns almost white as the large gate opens. What comes out of it, is an orcish like being, that is more than ten times his size, wielding a massive claymore.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. I'd duck for almost every swing this guy makes and be warned of how quick decapitation is!"

Staring at the 20 foot giant, Bal takes a deep breath and gulps. 'Why me?' He thinks to himself.

'An Elf is only as good as his resolve,' Leer chuckled to himself. 'Let's see how much you have child.'

LoS: Episode 1: The Day of Proving

It was a beautiful day in the town of Cozack. The sun was bright and left the sky open with no clouds forming that morning. The trees rustled along with a light wind. The town wasn't as busy as the rest of Nyst, but it certainly contended for the tightest community. The only downside was that criminals from other towns came here, seeking escape or fortune. While several Beastials left their homes for whatever jobs they had, grunts could be heard from one backyard

"Yaah!" Kail screamed as he attempted to strike 16-year-old Bal-Savi. With a simple twist of his wrist, Bal deflected the attack with ease. He yawned as Kail failed at yet another strike.

"Geez, do we have anything better to do than train Kail?" Bal asked as he soon deflected the next strike that came for him. He wore a white shirt with short sleeves and black leather pants. He stood upon the harsh grass with his bare feet. He tried to feel the grass under his feet as he barely paid any attention to his opponent. A large Beastial man in the form of a Bear faced him, with nothing on but the blue leather pants that were tight around his waist. Both had sword sheathes attached to their back.

"Now attack me." Kail demanded to his pupil.

Breathing deeply, Bal raised his sword arm and focused on his opponent. The man's one weakness was magic, but he couldn't use his. Instead, he decided a few well placed strikes and a good thrust would give him a good position to win the duel. Making his move, Bal began to rush his guardian. Kail rose his sword in front of his face, preparing himself for the attacks that would come. And indeed they did as Bal began to repeatedly strike downwards upon his opponent's weapon. Kail did his best to hold his own against the kid as he held his weapon with both hands. He parried almost every strike, taking Bal off balance. Seeing his own strength failing him, Bal made the hard decision and made his move. Pulling back one of his strikes, he steped back to make room for the quick thrust. Without warning he raced forward with his hands leading his swords aim at his opponent's chest. What happened after was not the intended outcome. Bal's face was held back by a large bear paw and its grip was tight around his head. The tip of a sword was lifted against his chin as his own was kicked out of his hands, landing in the grass with a soft thud. The prick against his neck soon left and the massive paw let go of his head as he heard its own put away their sword. Bal's breathing increased as he reached down and held his knees, looking up at Kail as he stood back up. Placing a hand against his chest, he attempted to get a pulse. All that came from the center of his chest was the cold dark feeling of the purple rock that laid there. The Demon heart was dead still, but his breathing remained. He shook his head as he walked over and picked up his sword. As he put it away, Kail put a hand on Bal's shoulder and smiled with his big bear-like face. Bal sighed and looked at him to hear the man's response.

"17 years ago you were just a toddler. Today you become one of us." He told the boy.

"I wish they were here." Bal replied sadly.

"I know they would be here if they could, but they are with the Gods now." Kail did his best to lift the kid's spirit.

"What if I have to take off my shirt during the Proving? What if the being I fight rips it off? What would they do to me if I accidentally used magic? What if-" Bal began to question everything that could go wrong during the coming event, doubting his own ability to hide his powers and faults. He was afraid of what the town would do if they learned about the demonic rock heart that was sewn to his chest.

Kail grabbed the boy by both shoulders, turning him so they looked at each other in the eye.

"Look at me. You will be fine. As far as I know, you'll knock 'em dead. With my training and your innate skill and willpower, you've turned into a strong opponent." Kail said with a half-serious, half-confident voice. He released the boy and then smacked his back as he walked toward the house's backdoor.

"Go find Liza for me Bal. And if you're really wondering about afterwards, just ask her about it. I bet she'll have plenty to teach you." Kail said as he opened the back door and entered inside the brick house, disappearing within. Bal was not outside alone. He paused to feel the warm grass against the skin of his feet. Looking up at the morning sky, he smiled brightly.

"I'll be fine." He told himself.

It had been ten minutes since Bal went in search of Liza in town. He had just searched the last of the neighborhood border, beginning to walk past the many shops placed in Cozack. Most of them were for adventurer's, selling weapons armor and other pieces of equipment they might need. The other shops sold found and housing supplies, simple items for Beastials the didn't partake in the guard or the military. While he began to past the common stores, an object caught his eye. A necklace was being displayed for a jewelry store, but it was different. It was made of steel that was rusting, and its pendant was shaped like a small gem. An odd carving was inscribed on the pendant. It was a beast he had never seen before. For some reason, he wanted that necklace, he needed that necklace. Bal walked closer to the glass window to star at the object and it began to glow. Before he could observe it any longer, a harsh scream cracked the air. Snapping out of his trance, Bal turned to see an alleyway at his left. He placed his right hand on the handle of his sword and sprinted to the entrance. That's when he saw three men, creeping upon a defenseless woman. Looking past the men, he notice that this woman was a gray wolf Beastial with her back against the wall. He then recognized her and screamed her name.

"Liza!!"

Liza took her attention off the three criminals, looking past them to see an elven boy stand there. His weapon was ready to be unleashed. 'Damn, always with the knack for getting attention. This could prove useful though.' Liza thought to herself as she saw the criminals turn to face Bal.

"It's the lazy elf! Kill him!" One of them shouted as the three of them pulled out weapons.

Of course Bal couldn't help but pay more attention to their Beastial forms, rather than their weapons. There was a Deer, a Bear and a brown-skinned Wolf. The Deer fashioned a crossbow while the other two drew out swords. Taking out his own, and twisting his wrist, allowing his sword to move with the wind, he took a step forward and raised his sword. He nodded to Liza, who was behind all the chaos, assuring her that he'd be fine.. Nodding back to the boy, Liza allowed her claws to spread out, ignoring the pain it caused her. The Deer began to draw a bolt, and she saw her chance. Like a rabid animal, Liza charged and pounced upon the Deer. She quickly swiped away the man's weapon, detracting her claws only to punch him out. Bal stood silent as he watched his opponents rush him on. 'Fools.' He thought to himself as he prepared himself for their attacks. They decided to rush opposite sides of him, one on his left and right. Swinging a second apart, they striked at the elven boy. Even with his overconfidence, he deflected both attacks with ease, striking back at them with equal force. Watching his attacks just become deflected as he did the same to theirs he decided to end the fight right there. Dropping down, Bal clenched his legs together and then launched himself into the air. With speed, he performed a backflip, kicking the weapons out of his opponent's hands. As their blades flew into the air, Bal landed onto his feet and then launched himself up again. Within the air he struck at their swords, cracking the steel as the pieces fell from the sky. Landing once more he sheathed his sword and gave them a dead stare. The two looked at the boy and could only see death in his red eyes as they became frightened and took steps backwards. Liza got off the Deer as the Bear and Wolf quickly ran and got him, dragging his feet as they scurried away. Liza brushed off her black pants and blouse as Bal looked at the shattered swords. As he looked up at Liza she raised an eyebrow at him with her hands on her hips.

"What?" He said without a clue of why she had that look.

"You're never that serious, not unless someone insults your parents. I don't recall them ever saying a word other than, 'Kill that lazy elf!'." Liza said, questioning Bal's motive for unleashing  his rage upon the criminals earlier

"I have no clue, I just didn't want to deal with them today. I have enough on my mind. What are you doing without your armor any how?" Bal attempted to sell her a reasonable excuse and avoid the topic

"A guard can't take a break?" Liza responded with curiosity

Bal explained only what he had heard about Kail's position of guard, "I don't remember Kail ever putting breaks into the rules of being Guard Lieutenant."

Liza stretched her arms and put her hands behind her head. "I was undercover to discover a big criminal underground. The only criminals I've found were those three. They look new to the town, so it couldn't have been them."

"Well, I just hope I can get through this proving." Bal said, expecting a confident response from Liza

"So you're not worried about the beast they could give you? They've never tested a non-beastial before. No one has." Liza began to say, with doubt in her mind of how Bal would pass

Bal was doing his best not to focus on the fight he would have to face. "I am more worried about the job they'll give me. I don't want to end up a guard."

"And what's so wrong with being a guard?" Liza didn't say this as an average question, but nearly threatened the boy in a playful way.

Trying to calm Liza down, Bal switched to the defensive immediately. "Nothing Liza!!! It just doesn't fit my style. I'm not a stand-still protector."

Liza laughed and patted Bal's back. "Some times you make it too easy to scare you!"

"You know you don't even have to try. I don't pick fights with girls." Bal said in an honest voice.

Liza smiled and nudged him. "I guess that's why you'll never beat me in combat. Your softer side slows you down."

They walked in silence until Liza spoke up once more.

"Hey Bal?"

"Yeah?"

"Honestly, I hope you do better than both me and my father." She told him in a confident manner.

Scratching his head and smiling Bal tried to ease her worry. "I'll give it a shot."

Punching Bal in the shoulder, Liza frowned at the boy. "I'm being serious you dope."

Rubbing his shoulder, Bal looked at Liza and gave her a half grin. "I know, I just don't want to be the downer in the conversation."

Punching him even harder, they both grinned as they finally approached their home. "Jerk."

"There you two are!" Kail shouted to them, the big bear making his way to them easily with big steps.

"Hey Dad!" Liza cried, with her left arm waving at him in excitement.

Kail gave Bal a stern look as he held up pieces of black leather armor.

"The rest of the guard is already up in Yeirn. The Guard will give you a ceremonial welcome and a final salute."

Bal straightened his back and looked Kail in the eyes. "I'll give it my best."

LoS Explanation

I want to tell everyone reading this series, The Legend of Sovereign, that there will be long pauses because I have a ton of things to do and that doing this writing like its an Episode long will take a lot of work out of me. It is possible I might do audio voice overs of it, if I don't sound odd, but each episode will take time before it can be fully done. I intend for this to be looked at like an Anime-show so please show a beginner at it a little respect. If nothing else at least applaud me for my efforts in coming up with this series. Thank you.

Legend of Sovereign: The Prologue

Even as we grow, the myths of legend remain fascinating, especially to our children. The favorite has always been that of our birth.

A long time ago, the 4 Gods created our world. They created the land and sea. Animals flourished in their habitats and lived happily. Unfortunately, our world was dull to the Gods. Agreeing that each god make their own, our four races were created. The race created by the God Kazalin were the Humans. We were made to be a strong and capable race, with some of us having the fortune of discovering alchemic powers and knowledge. This alchemy allowed for us to create with what we saw fit to use. Of course this was only limited to the resources we had at our disposal. Another God by the name of Savirok created the Elves. They were given magic, a power that allowed them to do almost whatever they wanted with whatever element the elf had received. They ween't limited to resources, because their power came from thin air. The third race, known as Beastials, were crafted by God Fer. They were considered abominations in  our early days but we soon decided to accept them. These Beastials took man-like statures but looked like any creature that could survive on land.. Its rumored there still exists a tribe of water Beastials, but its nothing but a fairy tale. Now the God Xerx was rather demented, and wanted a world to control, all of his own. How he planned it, he needed to create his own race, but have them looked upon as dark and demented. They are respectfully called Demons. These Demons were given abilities of what seemed to be a curse to those it affected and their Demonic nature almost seemed reminiscent of the fabled Hell we are lead to believe still holds evil beings that have died. These races soon began to bicker and fight, harming others with their abilities. Without even a single word, these races separated, taking up their own territories. They claimed large land masses, for the world is a massive place. The land named Legaal was created by the elves. It was a strong society that lived both on the ground and in the trees that surrounded them. The land named Nyst was claimed by the Beastials. It had tight communities with stone houses ad a strong military that was established rather quickly. Gieel was named by the Human population and took up stone and woodcrafting. Their society become a rather peaceful one, and their plans of the future replicated with the Elves' own plan. Where the Demons ran off to was the land of Ilsa. It had a nice forested area, until factions within the race fought for power,  turning it into a land of darkness, turning the trees black as ash and the ground became charred. Their communities were crafted with their own demonic powers, abusing it to fulfill their building desires. Fortunately by doing this, they became unable to reach as a magical barrier then surrounded these creatures. Only a few Demons had the ability to roam out of their territory, but it soon turned out that not many wanted to leave and explore the world. As the years past and the communities began to thrive and learn, the Humans and Elves wrote up a document requesting the assistance of Beastials and Demons to build a city. This city was intended to be a safeguard for all races to convene and talk. It even had plans for a 5 member council that would lead the city and any communities free of the independent race's territories. The Demons blatantly disagreed, refusing the request. They believed that only they would become the super power of the world. Beastials looked over the document given to them, and decided to consider the request. They demanded a signing to be on neutral ground, which Humans and Elves gladly agreed to. But it was all a trap. Humans and Elves met at the intended spot with not a single Beastial to greet them. Without warning, they were attacked by Demons who had gained the ability of flight, shooting balls of dark energy at the peaceful people. Then, a horde of Beastials unleashed themselves upon the battle, striking down the Humans and Elves with iron weaponry and their animalistic abilities. Driving off the remaining forces, it had appeared that the Demons and Beastials had formed an alliance. The greeting of dark energy and steel swords was soon reported to both communities, forcing both to go in an uproar. War was demanded and it was sure given as the best alchemists and mages geared up and went to battle against their new foes. Battles occurred all over the whole world. But it was apparent that the Demons had the upper-hand as they pushed back the Human and Elf forces to their respective territories. On the brink of losing their most divine creations, Savirok and Kazalin began o think of a way to help their people, until they found the issue. During their investigation they secretly learned that Xerx had cast a curse upon the race of Beastials to be controlled by him as well as his own race. Along with Fer, the three Gods sent Xerx from the mantle of the Gods to Oblivion, where he would remain for eternity. The Gods used all their power to lift the curse, which soon sent them into eternal slumber. With the curse gone, the Beastials turned on their Demon masters. The strength and courage of the Beasts was soon recorded and was recognized as a threat, for the Demons were driven back with a long push into their own territory. With no other race having the ability to enter Ilsa, alchemists and mages put powerful seals on the land, forcing no one to ever leave, and any who entered was doomed to stay. The beats soon gave up their strength to the Humans and Elves, giving them an unconditional surrender. On the brink of extinction, Humans and Elves looked at the Beastials with a close eye with hardly any attempt to be sympathetic. Although welcomed to help build their community after such a long delay, they would be given limited rights in the free land. Soon the city known as Sovereign went under construction. Beastials were put to harsh physical tests during those years and no sign of Demons ever appeared, holding true that the seals had worked. Once completed, Sovereign became a bustling city and the birth of our beloved Council went under way. It was decreed that 3 Humans and 2 Elves would be appointed every 50 years. Many decrees over a course of a thousand years were made by this council. One of them barred any land devastated by the previous war would be considered dangerous and that everyone should travel there with caution, for they knew not what horrors still remained. Another rule made was that any alchemist or mage that could create fire was forbidden from its use due to its destructive nature. With the years continuing on though, a hidden darkness began to rise in the shadows. Peace and happiness was shattered with dark beings attacking caravans, raiding towns at night and even attacking families. These evil and mysterious creatures were rumored to be Xerx's last creation before his banishment, meant to unleash hell upon the world if his first plan did not succeed. Even with such ridiculous rumors, the council made a brave decision. IT ordered that each town and city have its own Adventurer Clan. Even corrupted men and women in power agreed to this decision, fearing their positions would be threatened if they ignored such an act. From that point on fighters from each territory, or countries as they began to be called, joined their respective clans and decided to bring the fight to the monsters. Humans, Elves and Beastials began to team up and fight back the darkness. Fighters powerful enough to take on the creatures themselves were called Elitists and they were given special missions, some taking them off the main land. However, the monsters grew stronger with every passing year, and it was assumed that the Clans would crumble under the weight of the pressure. But then came the First. The First led their allies and friends with a sword and a torch into the darkness to bring back the peace. The fight they put up was legendary, but that is a story that has yet to begin.

It was a dark night. Only a few lights lit up the small area. The moon shone brightly and the town of Cozack had many torches lit that evening. A Human male with blonde and short hair was wearing a fancy robe and sat on a log in the night. The vibrant blue and brown colors that decorated his robe were fascinating. Next to him sat an Elf woman with long blonde hair. She wore shining white robes that one would be able to see at least half a mile away. Next to both of them lay their staffs. They were identical with an eloquent design and look. The Elf sat there, rocking her arms back in forth, cradling a baby wrapped in a soft red cloth. The male brushed the back of the female's head. The baby that lay in her arms was that of a boy. He was elven and produced red eyes as he slowly began to fall asleep. His arms overlapped the upper half of his chest, as if he was hiding it. Suddenly, a tall dark figure began to appear behind them. It soon approached them and its true form was revealed. It was a tall Beastial man that had the looks of a bear. His human stature was the only difference you could make from a comparison between him and his possible ancestors. He wore a leather jacket and light blue pants. As he approached the two, they stood up and turned to face him.
"So this is actually happening?" The bear began to question.
"It is." The man replied softly.
"Zaf, Lira.... you guys don't have to-" The bear began to speak reason to them.
Lira interrupted him, "Kail, even if we didn't have to go, we couldn't keep him. That heart would have all of Gieel and Legaal hunting him. The worst assumption would be that of a spy. You're the only one we can trust with him."
Kail spoke up, "So you didn't lie in your letter. He really has the heart of a Demon.?"
"Please, keep him safe." Zaf could barely speak to his friend.
"I will." Kail said firmly.

Lira began to slowly hand the boy to Kail as tears fell from her eyes. Gently taking the child, Kail rocked the boy back and forth as Zaf comforted Lira.

"We must leave. They will be wondering where we have run off to." Zaf said calmly.
"Aye. Kail, don't expect us to come back anytime soon." Lira told the bear sharply.
"I'll take care of him. Don't worry about a thing!" Kail exclaimed as the two walked away with staffs in hand, disappearing into the forest.

Kail then starred at the child in his arms and moved the arms away from its chest. In the middle of its upper half lay a blackish purple star with a red pendant inside. He sighed as he began to walk back to town.

"Bal-Savi," He whispered, "I swear to you, that I will always be proud of the man you'll become."
